A fishing boat sank while docked and the work is underway to contain an oil spill off Port Clyde, US.
Maine Department of Environmental Protection crews have put containment booms in place and are also using special pads to help absorb the fuel.
The pads so far have removed about about 15 gallons of fuel from the water.
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Response Services says the spill occurred when a docked fishing boat carrying an estimated 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel sank overnight. Authorities say the 42-foot Lady Debbie had run aground off Port Clyde earlier in the day.
DEP crews have placed containment booms to keep the oil from spreading. So far, crews have pulled about 15 gallons of oil off the water with special absorbent pads, while divers have been in the water trying to plug the leak.
Barbara Parker of the DEP says the spill is expected to have little environmental impact.
Authorities say a barge with a crane is heading to the scene. They say they plan to lift the boat out of the water and off-load the remaining fuel. Authorities say the clean-up is expected to be completed by later tonight.
