Japanese shipbuilder Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has selected Corvus Energy to supply the energy storage system (ESS) for the world’s first zero-emission electric tanker.

Japanese owner Asahi Tanker has confirmed orders at two local yards to build the world’s first two zero-emissions electric bunker tankers.

Asahi Tanker orders at Minami Nippon
In an all Japanese deal Asahi Tanker has gone to shipbuilder Minami Nippon to order a 51,000 dwt product tanker. No price has been given for the deal with the ship due to deliver in 2019.
