Akfen to invest 4 billion dollar in Petkim and Derince
Akfen Holding, after taking over the management of Mersin Harbor, is now getting ready for the tenders of Petkim and Derince harbors. The company put aside $4 billion for both tenders.
The reason behind Akfen’s interest in the Petkim tender is the harbor inside the facility, which contains six piers. The service areas of the harbor include the Aegean Region, Izmir and Manisa. As the infrastructural studies of the Aliaga Organized Industrial Zone are finalized and the zone begins to operate, the value of Petkim Harbor is predicted to increase.
In case the Petkim tender fails, Akfen will turn to Derince Harbor as its second choice. The Privatization Board is planning to hold the tender before the elections. Derince Harbor, located on the North of Izmit Harbor, is connected to the railroad and highways.
