Jeppesen Marine, Egersund, Norway, is launching a new product that ? together with the Norwegian Hydrographic Service ? will provide the world"s mariners with a single authoritative source for charts.
The product, called Jeppesen Primar ENC Service, effectively combines two services into a single offering mariners easy access to electronic charts.
Jeppesen Primar ENC Service shall ensure that mariners are always navigating by an approved Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) from Primar or other hydrographic offices, when these are available. When an ENC is not available, the service will notify the navigator (during route planning or navigation) and run from the high-quality private vector data produced and distributed by Jeppesen Marine. Previously, these two sources of data were sold and distributed separately.
