SETIA MEGA takes on water off Malaysia, all crew rescued...
Crew from a supply vessel, the mv SETIA MEGA, were safely evacuated yesterday and rescued by another vessel after it took on water and became totally submerged in Malaysian waters..
The vessel was sailing with supplies from the Kernaran Supply Base to the Dulang B oilfield when it got into difficulties near the Resak Platform around 54 nm from Kuala Terengganu.
No casualties were reported amongst her 14 crew who are safe and well.
The Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel is owned by Alam Maritim of Kuala Lumpur and was built in 2005.
She was under contract to Petrogas and it is understood another vessel will replace her. The company has sent another of their vessels to the scene to assess any environmental impact but believes there is no cause for concern.
Alam Maritim operates a fleet of some 18 vessels.
