Y?lmaz said, “We are convinced that shipping is a sector that drives the economy and we have supported it. Shipping companies have given us everything we expected of them. As a result, this sector is experiencing a golden age of peace, prosperity and cooperation.” Lucien Arkas, Chairman of the Arkas Board of Directors, who also spoke at the opening ceremony, stated that that private sector must cooperate with universities in order to train the qualified personnel which the industry needs. Arkas said, “This is the way to train human resources according to the needs of the industry. It means that we will avoid wasting the nation’s income and human resources. Every student graduating from this school will have a job waiting for them. It is difficult to find any other school in Turkey where that is true.”
