Offshore supply tug WINPOSH RAMPART broke off towing line reportedly on Jan 3 (though probably, earlier), in eastern Gulf of Siam, and started to drift towards Telok A oil rig at Telok gas/oil field in Malaysian waters.
The ship was under tow of another tug of the same owner, LIMIN ROSMINA, en route from Matak Indonesia to China, apparently for repairs.
Understood WINPOSH RAMPARTwas recently obtained by LIMIN MARINE & OFFSHORE PT, Jakarta.
Malaysian Maritime and SAR agencies are on alert, in standby mode, ready to respond if drifting tug will drift dangerously close to oil rig.
Understood LIMIN ROSMINA is trying to take breakaway ship back on tow, probably already took. WINPOSH RAMPART is unmanned, AIS is off.
