BTC: "Project of the century"
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Crude Oil Pipeline that channels Caspian oil to world markets via Turkey continues to make all involved countries a winner.
To date, 333 million barrels have been pumped to Haydar Aliyev Sea Terminal in Ceyhan (Turkey) and sent to global markets. Turkey earned 1.5 billion USD from the shipments that began on June 2nd, 2006.
The daily capacity of Ceyhan facilities is around 750,000 barrels.
The BTC pipeline cost 3.4 billion USD to set up. Crude oil from Azerbaijan goes through Georgia and reaches Turkey's Ceyhan town from where it is sent to world markets. The BTC pipeline is 1,776 kilometers long.
