Ferryboat service from ?stanbul to Bursa begins
A new ferryboat service between Istanbul and Bursa has begun. The Australian-made ferry Osman Gazi has a maximum occupancy of 1,200 passengers and 225 vehicles.
A second ferryboat will begin service in July. The cost of both ferryboats will cost the Istanbul Sea Bus Company $120 million.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo?an joined in the opening ceremony and said, “This is modern Turkey.” Erdo?an said the most important criterion of modernity was creating results, not groundless fears. The prime minister explained that Turkey has come a long way in development, noting that divided highways have been built in several provinces, that roads have been connected and that transportation problems are being resolved. Referring to a recent accident that killed 32 in Aksaray, Erdo?an said, “Maybe if the roads there were divided highways, the tragedy would not have happened.”
