Cargo Ship Sara Banned from Paris MoU Ports after Detention in Italy
The ship was detained in Port Monfalcone, Italy, on September 3, in what is the third detention in the Paris MoU region in the last two years

The ship was detained in Port Monfalcone, Italy, on September 3, in what is the third detention in the Paris MoU region in the last two years.

Following the detention, the ship will be refused further access to any port and anchorage in the Paris MOU region, except a port and anchorage of the ship’s flag state for the next three months. According to Paris MoU, the refusal of access will become applicable immediately after the ship is authorized to leave Port Monfalcone.

As explained, the detention is the result of an inspection carried out on the 2003-built ship in recent days by the Port Authority of Monfalcone. A Paris MoU report said the violations were related to navigation safety, safety on board and the living and working conditions of seafarers, as well as deficiencies in the overall safety management of the ship by the shipping company.

Out of 20 deficiencies found, 5 were ground for detention, it was further said.

According to VesselsValue data, the 8,900 dwt ship is owned by Azerbaijan’s Sio Shipping.

 

 

18 year old general cargo "SARA” with IMO number 9259020 has been banned by Italy from the Paris MoU region. The ship flies the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis. 20 deficiencies were found of which 5 were groud for detention
