Cargo transit through Azerbaijan rose by 51%
Cargo transit through Azerbaijan for Jan-Feb 2010 totaled 1.4 million tons versus 6.68 million tons in 2009, 6.595 million tons in 2008 and 5.99 million tons in 2007.
The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for the first two months of the year the major part of transit goods was sent to Bermuda Islands (581,000 tons), Switzerland (273,400 tons), Italy (224,200 tons), Georgia (90,400 tons), Tajikistan (52,900 tons), Iran (46,800 tons), Turkmenistan (41,200 tons), Russia (38,800 tons), Afghanistan (34,000 tons) and Turkey (22,700 tons).
Cargo transit for the reported term made up 150.65% with rise of 478,200 tons against the Jan-Feb 2009 index.
As a whole, for Jan-Feb 2010 in the course of export and import operations it was transported 6.627 million tons of cargo (112.8% versus Jan-Feb 2010), including 5.67 million tons of export and 955,200 tons of import.
Export by sea made up 45,600 tons, by rail 451,300 tons, by road 80,700 tons, by air 86,200 tons, and via pipelines 5.008 million tons.
Import included 687,600 tons by rail, 199,800 tons by road, 63,300 tons by sea, and 2,300 tons by air.
In addition, during temporary regime the country exported goods for $17.338 million and imported for $38.937 million.
