Daewoo Shipbuilding wins $770 mln order
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., the world's third-largest shipbuilder, said Tuesday (Feb. 12) that it has won a $770 million order to build five ultra large crude carriers.
The deal from Oman Shipping Co. calls for Daewoo Shipbuilding to deliver the vessels by April 2012, the shipbuilder said in a regulatory filing to the Korea Exchange.
Last month, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering won a $493 million order from an Asian shipping company to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the company by July 2011.
