Death toll rose to 46 after a boat carrying illegal migrants capsized near Seferihisar town of Aegean province of Izmir on Monday.
"The number of dead bodies found in search and rescue operations carried out under strong wind reached 46," subgovernor of Seferihisar Orhan Sefik Guldibi told reporters.
Guldibi said the migrants who had gathered in a meeting point in Izmir on Saturday evening of before they set off on a boat were of Palestinian, Somalese and Iraqi origin.
The boat carrying illegal migrants to the Greek islands had sunken immediately after it set sail from Seferihisar's Sigacik coast on Saturday.
Six illegal migrants survived the accident, while Turkish authorities have collected a total of 46 dead bodies so far.
