Development of Iran-Russia bilateral port and maritime cooperation
The establishment of regular container shipping lines between the ports of Iran and Russia was emphasized at joint meetings between Iran Ports and Maritime Authorities and the Russian Ministry of Transport authorities.

Mohammad Rastad, The Head of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran along with a delegation of Ports and maritime authorities as well as the directors of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping and Caspian Shipping Company and the Chairman of the Iran-Russia Chamber of Commerce met Head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transportation in Moscow.

Both parties emphasized the need to expand joint investment based on ports development, remove barriers for shipping companies and increase shipping in the Caspian Sea.

Among the topics discussed were plans to increase the volume of cargo operations in the Caspian Sea and to establish and develop relations between the two countries' private sectors to develop port and maritime cooperation.

Establishment of regular container shipping lines to develop container shipping between Iranian and Russian ports, launch of Ro-Ro shipping lines between Makhachkala port in Russia and Amirabad in Iran, and the need to establish a regional hydrographic working group in the Caspian Sea, were among the other issues proposed and discussed at the joint meetings.
