On 10th December STX Europe delivered the 133,500 gt MSC Fantasia, one of the most "eco-friendly' cruiseships yet built, says the company.
STX say the MSC Fantasia has been built with "comfort class' to safeguard the environment, meeting Bureau Veritas' ISO 14001 environmental protection criteria, and offer passengers optimum comfort.
From the "eco-friendly' point of view the vessel features advanced water treatment, energy savings in all passenger cabins and a cabin monitoring system that continuously controls the temperature in each cabin and keeps it constant without unnecessary use of energy.
In the construction of MSC Fantasia a new design philosophy has been incorporated into the elegantly understated public areas. In the suites, for example, the walls and furniture are of mahogany while the headboards are made of alcantara with luminous inlays.
MSC Fantasia has 1,637 cabins, 80% of which will be outside, 27,000 sq m of public space with a 1,700 seat theatre, five restaurants, four swimming pools, 20 bars, a Formula 1 simulator and an Interactive 4D cinema.
