EPA ISSUES CONNECTICUT SEWAGE STATEMENT
THE US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a notice stating that it has determined that “adequate facilities for the safe and sanitary removal and treatment of sewage from all vessels are reasonably available for the Connecticut state waters of Branford, East Haven, New Haven, West Haven, Orange, Milford, Stratford, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk, Darien, Stamford, and Greenwich”.
The move is a step towards designating the waters as a No Discharge Area and follows concern about the amount of sewage discharged by ferries and whale-watching vessels.
