The company announced that the first cargo was loaded and being transported by 138,000 cbm LNG carrier Excalibur.
The company noted that this was the first LNG shipment from the Americas produced on a floating liquefaction unit.
Argentine energy company YPF has chartered the LNG carrier to export LNG from the Tango FLNG unit, located in Bahía Blanca, to the global natural gas market.
The Tango FLNG project marks Argentina’s entry into the club of global LNG exporting nations, with an initial plan to export 500,000 tons of LNG per year to overseas markets.
Up to eight LNG cargoes per year are expected to be produced over the ten-year period, Exmar earlier said.
Tango FLNG is designed for a liquefaction capacity of about 0.5 million tons of LNG per year.
