FESCO Transport Group has taken the delivery of the FESCO Vladimir container carrier built by Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa.
FESCO Transport Group has taken the delivery of the FESCO Vladimir container carrier built by Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa. FESCO Vladimir is the last vessel of the series of vessels and the last one built by the shipyard which is to be closed according to the decision of the European Commission. This vessel project B170 is the last of this type built by polish shipbuilders for the Far Eastern fleet. Earlier the company took delivery of FESCO Vitim and FESCO Voronezh.
The specifications of the FESCO Vladimir are as follows: deadweight 22750 tons, container capacity 1730 TEU, length overall 184,1 m, breadth 25,3 m, draught 9,85 m, speed 19,7 knots. The FESCO Vladimir differs from her sister-ships by the cargo-handling equipment (three cargo cranes of 45 ton capacity per crane), ice-class Е3 (according to GL) and 200 reefer sockets for reefer containers.
Operation of earlier built container carriers proved the project"s success, FESCO press center states. The newbuilt was named in the honor of one of the first cargo-passenger ships of Dobroflot (the Volunteer Fleet) built in England in 1880. The first steam ship the Vladimir, purchased on the donations of the citizens of the Russian city Vladimir, operated in Dobroflot (the originator of FESCO) for almost 20 years.
The cooperation between FESCO and Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa resulted in construction of 25 different vessels during last years. One of the latest vessels was FESCO Diomid ? the largest container carrier in the history of the shipping company (capable of carrying 3,100 twenty-feet containers.
