Filipino crew killed by mooring line, Italy
Tanker was in process of unmooring, but after tragic accident, she was obviously, detained, for investigation.

A Filipino crew-member onboard product tanker MELIGUNIS M was killed, after a broken mooring line hit him, resulting in the 51-year old sailor dying on spot.

The incident occurred today (Tuesday, 7th September, 2021) in Livorno, Italy, off the Ligurean Sea.

The Italy-flagged 2008-built vessel was sailing from the Port of Livorno to the Port of Genova in Italy, when the tragic mishap occurred during the process of unmooring, resulting in the 7,321 GT vessel being detained for investigation of the accident.

According to the AIS data of the vessel, the tanker is currently moored in Livorno, Italy, off the Ligurean Sea, the exact position where the accident occurred.

Further investigation of the accident is underway by the authorities concerned.
