Topaz Energy and Marine Ltd has successfully reached the first milestone in a project it is carrying out for Vopak Horizon Ltd in Fujairah.
Topaz Energy and Marine Ltd, through its subsidiary Nico International, part of the newly established engineering division of the company, has successfully reached the first milestone in a project it is carrying out for Vopak Horizon Ltd in Fujairah.
The project was awarded to Nico by Interbeton (BAM International) in November last year and involves the design, fabrication and installation of offshore trestles and pipelines. The project is due for completion in December 2009.
During the project Topaz also undertook the construction of Berths 5 and 6 at the new Vopak oil terminal in Fujairah. The project also included fabrication and erection of offshore structures weighing 1,055 tons; design, fabrication and erection of offshore piping; and the erection of six marine loading arms.
The first milestone in the project was the completion of the erection of Trestle TB 4, weighing 56 tons, which was performed with an "A" frame barge provided by main contractor Interbeton. This first milestone was also safely completed without a lost time injury.
