Coast Guard search for hijacked vessel.
March 17, 2010 The Philippine Coast Guard Command Center has received information that on or about 160200H March, a fishing trawler with 6 crew members and registered in Sandakan Sabah, Malaysia was hijacked at Tigabu Island. It is believed that the boat has been taken to southern Philippine waters more particularly in the direction of Sulu. Four (4) suspected robbers were reportedly asking for 150,000.00 Malaysian dollars as ransom. The PCG has directed its unit in the area to verify and take appropriate action on the report and has likewise coordinated with the local AFP and PNP units to help locate the said fishing trawler.
The said fishing trawler is further described as follows: colored blue and white, with registration number SSK 00313F, cabin color yellow, length 18.89 meters, and width 4.57 meters.
