It is the latest specialised service offering from GAC Pindar, a partnership between global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC and professional sailing outfit Team Pindar that has established itself as a leading player in the marine sports logistics sector. The company has had a successful first year of operation, including a partnership to provide logistics support for the Extreme Sailing Series, and has provided dedicated logistical and support services to many of the world’s most highly regarded professional sailing events.
The new service represents GAC Pindar’s first major foray into superyacht market, an industry worth £450 million annually in the UK alone.
Andrew Pindar, Team Principal of GAC Pindar, said: “We’ve had a hugely successful start to 2012, with many new enquiries and the successful completion of a wide range of events including Oman Sail, Extreme Sailing Series and World Match Racing Tour events in Korea, Turkey and Brazil, to name a few. We have also expanded our sponsorship portfolio, including the Superyacht Cups in Palma and Cowes, which is an important progression in our expansion further into the superyacht industry.
“Through our partnership with GAC, which is present at more than 1000 locations around the world, we can combine an enviable global network and infrastructure with our own expertise and experience of the professional sailing and superyacht industries. We offer a full range of specialised services tailored specifically to the superyacht industry under one roof – something none of our competitors can boast – with the GAC guarantee of quality, so we are well placed to become an industry leader.”
GAC supply high quality fuel, lubricants and JetA1 to superyachts and their ancillary craft, with pre-order and delivery of products possible at more than 3,000 ports worldwide. GAC Bunker Fuels, the marine fuel supply and trading arm of GAC, has credit lines with all oil majors and many independent suppliers worldwide.
Further, GAC Pindar can provide crew handling and welfare services, spares clearance and delivery, communications assistance, customs clearance and canal transit services, as well as air, road and sea freight, tailored to the superyacht and professional sailing market. Through GAC’s strategic alliance with the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), GAC Pindar also offer a range of customised weather routing services to ensure that superyachts follow the safest routes.
