Gangavaram port sets new record
Gangavaram port, with the deepest draft in the country, has set a new record by discharging 71,808 tonnes on a day from a vessel carrying non-coking coal, according to a press release.
The port handled the vessel, m.v Go Patoro, laden with non-coking coal, for Adani Enterprises and it was the third fully-laden cape size vessel the port had handled, according to the release. It is the only port in the country, claims the release, having the required depth and the infrastruc ture to handle such vessels. The earlier record also was set by the port in April, by discharging 57,000 tonnes of coal on a day.
