Gaza FSO Offloads 1st Crude Oil Cargo in Libya
The first crude oil shipment was offloaded from Gaza floating, storage, offloading (FSO) unit in Bouri Offshore Field on February 11, 2017, Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said.

Valfoglia, a 109,100 dwt tanker owned by Italy’s Montanari Navigazione, took the first oil from the FSU.

Gaza FSO was launched to replace Sloug FSO and to be included in the oil operations system of Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, according to NOC.

Gaza FSO reached Al Bouri Field at the end of May 2016, after a voyage from the shipyard in Jinhae in South Korea, sailing from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.

Featuring a length of 360 meters and a width of 60 meters, the FSO unit has a capacity of around 1.5 million barrels of crude oil.

The works of the offshore installations of the pipes, marine cables and optical fibers were completed along with the production platforms at the field by the end of 2016, and the processed crude oil was pumped at the main installation at the end of January 2017.
