General cargo vessel M. Andreev collided with two freighters at Azov Anchorage
The general cargo vessel M. Andreev suffered steering gear failure and collided with freighters Aleksandr Lebed and Rusich 2 at Azov Anchorage in Russia.

The vessel, loaded with 4715 tons of wheat, was passing through anchorage, but suffered technical problem and slammed into the portboad bow of the anchored Aleksandr Lebed and touched with stern the bulb of the motor ship Rusich 2. Following the collision there were only slight damages and all the vessel remained afloat without breaches. The local authorities ordered general cargo vessel M. Andreev to anchor for special survey and inspection. There is no report about injuries and water pollution.
 
The local authorities initiated investigation for the root cause of the accident.

The general cargo vessel M. Andreev (IMO: 8946377) has overall length of 138.30 m, moulded beam of 16.70 m and maximum draft of 3.50 m. The ship was built in 1978 by Oka Shipyard in Navashino, Russia. The vessel has deadweight of 4,038 DWT and gross tonnage of 3,971 GRT.

The freighter Aleksandr Lebed (IMO: 8866826) has overall length of 139.00 m, moulded beam of 16.70 m and maximum draft of 4.50 m. The deadweight of the ship is 3,709 DWT and gross tonnage of 4,972 GRT. The ship was built in 1985 by Oka Shipyard in Navashino, Russia.

The general cargo ship Rusich 2 (IMO: 9317016) has overall length of 128.00 m, moulded beam of 16.00 m and maximum draft of 4.50 m. The deadweight of the freighter is 5,485 DWT and the gross tonnage is 4,970 GRT. The vessel was built in 2004 by Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia.
