Evergreen Line is adding the Far East and Indian Sub-Continent to Mediterranean Westbound Trades to its list of trade lanes to get a general rate increase as the peak season approaches and other ocean carriers say they are raising rates as well.
The price hike is based on ?current overbooking? and increasing cargo volume, said Evergreen in its announcement last week, indicating the global capacity glut may be shrinking.
Evergreen Line said it will increase rates for the Far East (including Japan) and Indian Sub-Continent to Mediterranean Westbound Trades by $200 per 20-foot equivalent unit, effective Sept. 1. The increase applies to all cargo and commodities, including reefers and special equipment.
