After starting direct service from Hamburg to the Mediterranean with its Euro Aegean service, Grimaldi Lines will call at Mersin for the first time on January 10th, 2009.
On this first trip, excavators will be loaded on to the Grand Sicilia, which is one of the largest Ro-Ro vessels to come to Mersin at 177 meters long, 31 meters wide and a deadweight of 38,651 tons. The service calls at the following ports: Mersin, Alexandria, Gemlik, Salerno, Valencia, Southampton, Hamburg, Flushing, Antwerp and Portbury - Bristol.
Thanks to this service, which is offered every 15 days, Egekont will be providing Ro-Ro service to more ports and will be able to ship freight from Mersin to many ports in West and North Africa, North and South America and in Europe. This will provide significant advantages for import shipments as well as project shipments and exports of heavy vehicles like buses, trucks and trailers and large construction machinery like rock crushers.

The company has specialized in vehicle transportation and currently has one of the largest fleets in the world used for vehicle transportation and multi-purpose Ro-Ro cargo.
