South Korean shipbuilder Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction has secured a $450m newbuilding contract for four bulk carriers and four oil tankers at its Philippines outfit.

South Korean shipbuilder Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction has secured a $450m newbuilding contract for four bulk carriers and four oil tankers at its Philippines outfit.

The orders were placed by companies in China, Singapore and Greece and the vessels are scheduled for delivery as early as the second half of 2011, HHIC said in a statement.

Hanjin runs a 349-hectare facility at the Subic Bay Freeport in the Philippines, employing some 15,000 workers.
