Shares in South Korea's Hanjin Shipping dropped 5 percent Monday on a newspaper report that the downturn-hit firm was seeking to sell assets to raise funds.

Hanjin, one of the top three operators of the key Asia-U.S. container route, was seeking to sell its stakes in terminals at home and overseas and sell and lease back 30,000 container units. A Hanjin spokeswoman could not immediately verify the report.

At 0205 GMT, Hanjin shares were down 5.31 percent, compared with the wider market's 0.65 percent loss.
