Hanjin Shipping to start direct service from Asia to Mexico.
Hanjin Shipping is starting a direct service between Asia and Mexico effective middle of March. Hanjin Athens, currently deployed in CAX (China America Express), one of Hanjin Shipping"s major lanes in the trans-pacific trade, will be making its maiden call at Manzanillo, Mexico on March 14th, 2010. This lane will be covering China (Shanghai), Korea (Gwangyang, Busan), U.S. West Coast (Long Beach) and Mexico (Manzanillo, Ensenada) with five of 5,500TEU class ships deployed on weekly basis.
Hanjin Shipping comments that it will be able to upgrade its customer service by providing a direct service to Mexico, where the demand is expected to show continuous growth, and build a stronger presence in the market. Also, the company believes that it will be able to diversify its portfolio of cargo volume from Asia to the U.S. South West regions by adding the growing cargo demand to Mexico.
