According to the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency, a total of 40 people survived, while over a dozen more are still missing.
The agency added that the search and rescue efforts will continue until Saturday.
The ferry, carrying 118 passengers on board, was en route from the port of Kolaka to Bansalae, Sulawesi, when it was hit by 10 feet high waves.
