AGENCY company Inchcape Shipping Services has won a competitive global tender to handle the tanker fleet of Italian oil and gas major Eni.
Stefano Tositti, MD of Inchcape Shipping’s Italian joint venture, ISS-TOSITTI, commented: “This is a tremendously important development for us. Eni is Italy’s leading energy company with a modern fleet of Aframax and Handy-sized tankers carrying both crude and products. It is also one of the country’s biggest corporations.
“We expect to handle between 500 and 600 port calls globally from our hub in Venice, throughout the year. The main regions of activity will be the Mediterranean excluding Italy itself, the Black Sea and West Africa.
“This is our third success in three months,” he continued, “having won contracts to handle the port calls of Synergas, Vistamar and now Eni. What it shows is that the Italian market is attracted to our service concept which rests on four cornerstones: the hub, which is our office in Venice as a single reference point to liaise with the principal on all requirements; the international experience and reputation of ISS; some of the most sophisticated web-based applications in the market in the shape of YourISS and the ISS Disbursement Management System; and the further advantages Tositti brings to the relationship in the form of common culture, language and time zone.
