After four years' preparation, the shipping service jointly operated by China, Japan, Russia and Korea has officially been launched. With a successful trial run in October 2008 and March this year, the service has started operation using one 16,000-tonne ship, calling at China's Huichun, Russia's Zarubino, Japan's Niigata and Korea's Sokcho.
The idea was first put forward by Japan four years ago. The four sides finally reached consensus in September 2008 on setting up a joint venture invested by four ocean carriers respectively from each country as the operator of the shipping line.
