The 1990-built 3,200m³ Longchamp was attacked and taken over by Somali pirates on Thursday, along with its crew of 13 including one Indonesian and 12 Filipino seafarers.

A fully-laden LPG tanker has been hijacked in the Gulf of Aden, reports said.

The 1990-built 3,200m³ Longchamp was attacked and taken over by Somali pirates on Thursday, along with its crew of 13 including one Indonesian and 12 Filipino seafarers.

The Longchamp is owned by MPC Group and managed by Bernhard Schulte Group, both based in Germany.

A Bernhard Schulte executive was quoted saying that the LPG tanker was en-route from Europe to the Far East when it was hijacked as it traversed the designated maritime security corridor.

Owners MPC in fact told the press that Longchamp was being escorted by a naval convoy when it was boarded by seven armed pirates.

?The ship has been boarded by seven pirates and is now forced to proceed to Somalia,? said Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement on its website.

?At present contact with the vessel cannot be made but the master was briefly allowed to communicate with us and it appears that nobody on board was killed or injured,? the statement added.
