Maersk Line lands USD 8.6m oil transport job from US DoD.
The US Department of Defense (DoD) said it has awarded shipping company Maersk Line Ltd (MLL) a nine-month charter worth USD8.6m mainly covering transport of oil between ports in the Far East. The contract, which is for tanker MT Samho Moonstone, includes a 30-day extension option, that could bring the value to USD9.5m.
Work on the assignment is scheduled to start in May 2010.
The contract is expected to be funded this year.
MLL is part of Danish oil and shipping group A P Moller - Maersk A/S.
