Marinvest plans to launch panamax tanker pool
Gothenburg based Marinvest has revealed plans to launch ?a product tanker chartering operation? for panamax-sized vessels.
Under a company called Hafnia Management, the Swedish private investment company is seeking partners to launch the company, as well as senior executives, including a chief executive, chief financial officer, chartering manager and operations manager.
The company"s largest investment is reportedly four chemical/product tankers of 78,000 dwt-84,000 dwt via its 50% stake in Bermuda-incorporated Skagerak Investment.
A manager from Marinvest, who declined to be identified, said advertisements published in maritime press on Friday were ?like sending up a balloon? in order to find out if there were any interested partners for the venture.
He declined to elaborate further about plans. ?We will see what happens and then we go on with that,? he said.
Product tanker pools operating internationally include Heidmar"s Dorado Product Tanker pool, the Norden-managed Norient pool for tankers of 35,000 dwt-55,000 dwt. The Maersk Tanker-run Handytankers pool manages some 100 vessels.
