Maritime Summit in Iskenderun starts Saturday

The first maritime summit will gather the leading sector representatives for the East Mediterranean Maritime and Economy Summit on Saturday.

The summit will happen in ?skenderun, formerly known as Alexandretta, on the west coast of Turkey in the district of Hatay. ?skenderun is a growing city with urban features and it is located on the Mediterranean coast at the foot of the Nur Mountains.

Maritime conditions and problems in the eastern part of the Mediterranean will be a key topic on the summit's agenda. The summit will take place with the cooperation of the South and Southeast Young Businesspeople Federation (G?AF) and the Chamber of ?skenderun Maritime Business.

The ?skenderun Young Businesspeople Association will host the summit. At the summit, the importance of ports, advantages and disadvantages, future of the sector and the role of the maritime business in the development of the region will extensively be discussed. The ports in the region are thought to be the heart of the Turkish exporting business.

The representatives of the East Mediterranean Maritime and Economy Summit organization stated the attendees will stress the maritime business sub-sector's existing developments and it will be an important model for cooperation with public works projects.
