According to the company’s website data, Oldendorff has 16 newbuildings on order, not including the latest order, with deliveries spread across 2017-2019. While the company is tight-lipped about the latest orders, industry sources have confirmed the inputs.

In 2014, Oldendorff initiated a fleet renewal program by ordering around 50 ‘eco’ newbuildings in China, Korea and Japan. The new vessels feature very low fuel consumption and a significantly reduced carbon footprint.

The shipping major operates a fleet of over 600 bulk carriers and has predicted that in 2017, these environmentally friendly vessels will make up 90 per cent of the capacity of its fleet.
