The nuclear associations of two countries sign agreement on know-how transfer for nuclear technologies

The Nuclear Industry Association of Turkey (NIATR) and The United States Nuclear Infrastructure Council (NIC) signed a memorandum of understanding to develop cooperative activities between the nuclear industries of the two countries, NIATR announced Monday.

The agreement was inked during a ceremony at the U.S. Department of Commerce global finance workshop on March 11, which included participation by both industry groups, according to statement.

"The agreement recognizes the importance of nuclear energy for sustainable development, both worldwide and in the two respective countries, Its goal is to foster dialogue, information exchange and communication between the nuclear industries of the two countries,” read the statement.

The agreement was signed by NIATR Vice President and Founder Erhan Atay and the U.S. NIC CEO David Blee.

"We are confident; this agreement will enhance collaboration between our respective industries by promoting a close and collegial relationship and cooperation for the safe and peaceful uses of nuclear technology and energy," Atay said.

U. S. NIC is the leading U.S. business consortium advocate for new nuclear technologies and promotion of the American supply chain globally.

NIATR is established to bring together global companies to invest in Turkey for nuclear energy and local companies interested in collaboration to acquire technology and information transfer.

Turkey plans to build three nuclear power plants. The first two projects -Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin province of Turkey and Sinop Nuclear Power Plant on the Black Sea cost at a location called Inceburun.
