Mitsui OSK adds calls to Asia-South America run.
Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines has strengthened its Asia-east coast South America service with an extra five port calls in Asia.
The new service rotation will begin with the 4,380 teu boxship newbuilding MOL Dignity starting from Xingang in Tianjin, northern China, on March 25.
MOL said the additional port calls comprise Xingang, Dalian, Qingdao, Pusan and Shanghai.
MOL liner division general manager Toshiya Konishi said the revamp of the CSW service would allow MOL to cover China"s Bohai Bay ports in addition to South Korea and Shanghai. He said: ?This change is in line with MOL"s strategy of expanding one of its core trade lanes.?
The service already makes calls at ports including Hong Kong, Singapore, Durban, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro and Cape Town.
Meanwhile, Taiwan"s Evergreen Line has expanded its co-operation with mainland Chinese liner company China Shipping Container Lines, with the launch a joint China-Philippines-Thailand express service.
It will be inaugurated by Evergreen"s 2006-built, 2,600 teu boxship Ital Onore , which will leave Shanghai on March 26.
Evergreen will deploy one vessel and CSCL two, including the 2009-built, 2,546 teu CSCL Manzanillo.
The service includes calls at Ningbo, Manila, Laem Chabang and Hong Kong.
