MSC BACK IN BUSAN
Mediterranean Shipping Company has changed its north Asian transshipment centre back from Ningbo in China to Busan in Korea.
Busan Port Authority said that MSC had originally changed its transshipment center from Busan to Ningbo in 2005 but was now returning to Gamman Terminal.
The port authority said the move reflected Busan’s high productivity, timely transportation, and schedule-based cargo handling.
BPA expects that MSC's return will add more than 400,000 teu in annual transshipment cargo and that container throughput this year would reach 12,640,000 teu.
Busan handled 3,110,000 teu in the first quarter of this year, 5.1% up from 2006.
