Muuga box port gains Germanischer certification
Estonia's Muuga Container Terminal in the port of Tallinn has become the first Baltic Sea box facility and the first feeder hub to have its operations certified by Germanischer Lloyd.
The German class society"s Container Terminal Quality Indicator standard is a benchmarking tool for evaluating the quality of container terminals and is intended to increase operational efficiency.
Muuga CT handled 415 container ships and over 500 ro-ro vessels within the one-year reference period, from July 2008 until June last year, with 103,258 moves by the terminal"s ship-to-shore cranes.
The audit was confined to container pier operations at the port"s berth 15 and 16.
