'Nabucco Project is energy peace'

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler said Nabucco Project is not merely a project providing natural gas to Europe but also an energy peace project.

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler said Tuesday Nabucco Project is not merely a project providing natural gas to Europe but also an energy peace project.

Guler left Istanbul on Tuesday to attend a ceremony that would make German RWE company the sixth partner of the Nabucco natural gas pipeline in Vienna, Austria.

Speaking to reporters prior to his departure at Ataturk International Airport, Guler told that the Nabucco Project is rapidly getting realized and the construction of the pipeline is going as scheduled.

"While in Vienna, I will hold talks with energy ministers of several countries and discuss energy projects pertaining to the region," Guler indicated.

Following the ceremony in Vienna, Guler will proceed to Qatar to accompany Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
