Containers are shipped via the CTH Herne hub to the Halkali terminal in Istanbul.
By linking Rotterdam RSC up with its South-East European network, Intercontainer is able to offer the logistics sector new connections in hinterland traffic with this part of the continent. Trains leave Rotterdam on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Containers are then shipped via the CTH Herne hub in the Ruhr on to Sopron and Budapest Bilk, Bradu de Sus and Bucharest, Thessaloniki and the Halkali terminal in Istanbul. In the north-bound direction, containers bound for onward shipment by sea arrive in Rotterdam on Mondays and Fridays.
At the CTH Herne terminal, mobile front spreaders transfer the containers between the Rotterdam and South-East Europe shuttles. The terminal can boast three 725 m-long loading/transhipment tracks for up to 70 container wagons and three mobile transhipment units. Traction services between Rotterdam and Herne are provided on a shuttle basis by EVU.
