The 6th Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony took place on 12 November 2011 at Sheraton Hotel in Istanbul by the participation of prominent national and international guests. The Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony had a broad repercussion in press and media.

At the 6th Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony, 13 Golden Anchor Awards, a Politician of 2011 Award, an High Honour Award for the Fellow of Seafarers and Maritime and 3 achievement plaques were delivered. The opening speech was made by Recep Canpolat, the Chairman of Deniz News Agency and the Golden Anchor Awards Organization Committee and by Erdem Top, Vice President of the Executive Board of Dünya Newspaper.

The 6th Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony had a broad repercussion in press. Anadolu, Doğan and Cihan News Agencies broadcasted the Ceremony live. National TV channels broadcasted the Ceremony in prime time news bulletin and it drew enormous attention and praise.

The 6th Golden Anchor Awards have been given to the winners Sheraton Hotel Istanbul by the participation of HE Binali Yildirim, the Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communication of Turkey and HE Efthimios Mitropoulos, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.            HE Binali Yildirim, the Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communication of Turkey and HE Efthimios Mitropoulos, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization received 2 Golden Anchor Awards.

HE Efthimios Mitropoulos, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a United Nations agency, was the Guest of Honor with his wife Mrs Chantal Mitropoulos and his daughter, Ms Athina Mitropoulos and received the 1st Golden Anchor Award for High Honor Award for the Fellow of Seafarers and Maritime from Deputy Minister of National Defence Kemal Yardımcı.

The Golden Anchor Award for Politician of the Year was given to HE Binali Yildirim, the Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communication of Turkey. Binali Yildirim received the Golden Anchor Award from the Turkish Union of Shipowners Sadan Kalkavan.

The Golden Anchor Award for the Investment of the year was given to Yildirim Group. The Chairman of Yildirim Group Yüksel Yildirim received his award from IMO Representative of Iran Ali Akbar Marzban.

The Golden Anchor Award for Contributions in Education was given to the Group of International Maritime and Uzmar Maritime for their contribution of 1 million TRY for Istanbul Technical University Maritime Faculty.

The Golden Anchor Award for Containership Agency was given to MSC Group, which has been operating in 1978. The CEO of MSC Hasan Piroglu received the Golden Anchor Award from Erol Yucel, the President of the Assembly Maritime Sector of the Administrative Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges.

The Golden Anchor Award for Offshore Cargo Ship Agency was given to Akmar Maritime Agency. Bulent Ozen, Deputy Director General got award from IMO Representative of South Korea Youngsun Park.

The Golden Anchor Award for Sea And Marine Technology was given to Guven Kepce(Butterfly Net). Director of Guven Kepce, Engin Guven received his Golden Anchor Award from Malcolm Vincent, the President Elect of IMarEST.

The Golden Anchor Award for Ship Supply Industry was given to Dalgakiran Group. The Chairman of the Board of Directors Adnan Dalgakiran received the The Golden Anchor Award from IMO Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to IMO, Talha Qureshi from Pakistan.

The Golden Anchor Award for Yacht and Boat Building was given to Mengi Yay. Chairman of the Board of Directors Hüseyin Mengi received the Golden Anchor Award from Intercargo General Manager David Jones.

The Golden Anchor Award for Shipbuilding was given to Tersan Bogazici Shipyard. Bogazici Shipyard General Manager Engin Oktay received the Golden Anchor Award from Durmuş Ali Torlak, the President of Nationalist Movement Party Istanbul Headquarters.

The Golden Anchor Award for Port Management Award was given to PSA International. PSA International Port of Mersin Deputy General Manager Kursat Tezkan received the Golden Anchor Award from IMO Representative of Nigeria Anas Kawu Suleiman.

The Golden Anchor Award for Oil and Chemical Tanker Management was given to Selay Marine. The Chairman of Selay Marine Suphi Colak received the Golden Anchor Award from WISTA UK President and the ISM Shipping Maria Dixon.

The Golden Anchor Award for Dry Cargo Ship Management was given to Konvoy Marine. The Chairman of Konvoy Marine Muhsin Emirsoy received the Golden Anchor Award from Italy IMO Representative Admiral Cristiano Aliperta.

The Golden Anchor Award for Big Tonnage Ship Ownership was given to Kiran Maritime. Kiran Holding Vice Chairman Tamer Kiran received the Golden Anchor Award from IMO Technical Co-operation Division Director Jianxhin Zhu.

The Golden Anchor Award for Deceased Yucel Odabasi Jury Honor was given to IMO Representative of Malta and Secretary General of the International Maritime Authority Malta Carmel Lino Vassallo.

The Golden Anchor Award for Lifetime Achievement was given to the Chamber of Shipping Vice President Halim Mete. Halim Mete received the Golden Anchor Award from the Chairman of the Chamber of Shipping Metin Kalkavan.
