Having received the Golden Anchor Award for Lifetime Achievement, Koji Sekimizu, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization stated that he was quite surprised and and happy to be in the Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony, the Oscar of Maritime.
The Secretary-General began his speech with “Dear Minister, Ladies and Gentlemen, İyi Akşamlar (Good Evening). These are the only words I can say in Turkish. I’m quite amazed at the Golden Anchor Awards Ceremony. It is a wonderful and a well-known event in international maritime world. This ceremony shows what you, the member countries of the IMO and my colleagues have been doing for a long time and that you have been following all these accomplishments up and recognize them. Thus I would like to express you my gratitude towards this special Golden Anchor Award for Lifetime Achievement.”
The Secretary-General stated that he was born in the year of 1952 in Japan to quite hard life conditions and that Japan joined the international community also in 1952. The Secretary-General stated that he was honored to receive the Golden Anchor Award for Lifetime Achievement and he devoted his award to his wife, his colleagues and the fellows of seafarers especially his wife.
The Secretary-General Koji Sekimizu was the Guest of Honor at the 7th Golden Anchor Awards and received a Lifetime Achievement Award and received his award from Fuat Hayri Aka, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications.
