From January next year Maersk Line will charge Australian customers a fee for export containers returned after the agreed grace period of 10 days.

The decision was part of a global initiative to better manage its container stock, recover costs and streamline fees, which will from next year include a ?simplified? set of detention fees for import containers, Maersk said.
