Sefine Shipyard has built up 140 000 square meters area in Yalova with 70 million dollars of investment. Sefine Shipyard, with the aim of becoming one of the leading shipyards in Turkey, has invested over 70 million dollars for the shipyard that has 15 500 square meters closed space and that was settled on 140 000 square meters area in total.

O?uz TANIR, the marine engineer, who is the general manager of Sefine Shipyard, stated that Sefine Shipyard, with its 140 000 square meters area, has aimed at becoming one of the world"s favorite shipyards, and also producing ships with high quality, high budget and high technology.

In a long term, TANIR has stated that they are aiming at cooperating with the world"s shipyards that have developed technology. In this way they are aimed at developing their skills and expanding their market share. TANIR said that Sefine Shipyard was set up in 2005 and in 2006 the construction of infrastructure and autonomic works were done. TANIR stated that construction of the first ship started with the ship"s cutting of steel with the number  NB 01.In 2009 they made 4 agreements about boats with cars and 2 agreements with aluminum boats, dry pool construction started and the delivery of the first ship was done in the year 2009.

THE LARGEST SHIP IN THE REGION

O?uz TANIR, the marine engineer, who is the general manager of Sefine Shipyard, stated that the first of the two 13 000 DWT general freight ships was delivered in June, 2010 and now it is working. Also he said that the ship of 13 000 DWT, which is under construction now, is the largest ship in this region and it will be delivered in February, 2011.

4 FERRYBOATS FOR GESTA?

O?uz TANIR said that they have 4 ferryboats that were built for Gesta? and he added in his statement about the ships: ?Ships are 89 meters in length, 18 meters in width, they all can have 86 vehicles. Two of the ships can have 400 passengers, the other two can have 600 passengers. First two of these ships are now waiting on the sledge. All the designing process was done in Sefine Shipyard.

DESIGNS ARE FROM SEFINE SHIPYARD

 ?In order to be a competitive shipyard in the region, we try hard.? Said TANIR and added that they didn"t take any designs from outside and all the designs are made in their shipyard. Once they took a design from a English company for the ships that were desired by ?COAST GUARD GENERAL MANAGEMENT? and this was done in this way just because of the customer"s wish.

TANIR explained that they had made 4 search and rescue boats for ?COAST GUARD GENERAL MANAGEMENT. These boats are the first ones in Turkey and three countries have them in the World. He stated that they are the boats especially to work on overseas where noone can go, to work on hard sea conditions and to mend themselves when they are capsized. But he said that they have serious problem in supplying of the materials of especially military boats that are made by aluminum materials.

Private Training Course for The Employees

O?uz TANIR sad that Sefine Shipyard has the capacity of 11 000 ton and there are 96 permanent   480 subcontractor workers in this shipyard. Approximately 20 % of the permanent workers are marine engineers and all the workers get the inservice training course.
