An oil tanker on fire off the coast of Dubai was carrying around 30,000 tonnes of oil condensates from Iran to the United Arab Emirates, two industry sources said on Tuesday.
Authorities have been alerted about the fire, which was still burning early Tuesday afternoon.
The oil tanker, which is called the Kashmir, has a capacity of around 45,000 tonnes, ship brokers said. It was not immediately clear how much damage had been done to the ship or its load.
DP World spokeswoman Sarah Lockie said the container vessel is a medium-sized "feeder ship." She did not have details on the tanker.
Condensates are light oils prized by refiners and petrochemical firms.
