Oil terminals in Singapore are now ready for OCIMF - SIRE (Ship Inspection Report) inspections of tankers, the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) told.
The effort was initiated by SSA jointly with OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) and INTERTANKO in dialogue with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and various oil terminal representatives in Singapore.
The following link is a link to the MPA Port Marine Circular No 5 of 2009 dated 6 April advising the development of the procedures and guidelines for seeking SIRE inspection when tankers are alongside the terminals. The MPA says the new procedures ?should be used with immediate effect?.
Some guidelines laid out for the industry regarding the SIRE inspections include a three working day notice of vessel arrival to submit inspection requests and ?any applications submitted with less than 3 days advance notice will be considered on a case-by-case basis.?
